Srinagar, Feb 26 (KNO): The residents of Bijnari Khrew area of Pampore hamlet in Kashmir's Pulwama are up against the government for failing in providing basic facilities to the area.
The people of the area said that they are facing shortage of drinking water since decades but no attention is being given towards the issue.
“We are forced to drink contaminated water in absence of potable water and our repeated pleas to concerned officials are falling deaf on their ears,” they told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
They said that there is no proper road connectivity to the area due to which they are suffering. “Unscheduled power supply is prevalent in the area due to which they are suffering,” they said, adding that during emergencies like delivery cases, they are suffering a lot in absence of proper road connectivity.
They further added that their ration store is very far and they are facing lot of problems as they are forced to go to for kilometres to bring ration.
Locals said that they have brought these issues in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
They said that area has been neglected since last several decades and they don't have any hope now as since decades the promises made with them are proving hoax on ground.
They urged LG Administration and District Administration to look into the matter and provide basic facilities to the area so that they too can live their lives happily.
Meanwhile, an official said that a mega water supply scheme under JJM is coming in area which will cover whole area and a temporary arrangement on existing well is also being made besides that issue of road, power and ration has been taken with concerned authorities and very soon all issues will be solved—(KNO)
